Backyard chicken coops are a growing trend in Corpus Christi.
BAWKtoberfest is GROW Local South Texas’ annual backyard chicken coop tour, a fun day for the whole family. There is no better way to learn how to build a coop in your own yard than seeing how your neighbors have done it. Kids especially love seeing chickens up close and personal.
Here is how it works:
- When and Where: Saturday, October 21, 2017
- GROW Local South Texas Members: $5
- GROW Local South Texas Non-Members: $10

Many tour stop coop owners will be there to make sure you have all your questions answered. We’ll have door prizes, awards and even more fun!

GROW Local South Texas’ mission is to cultivate a healthy community by growing the local food system and improving access to nutritious, affordable foods. What better way to teach people about backyard chickens than to let them see how their neighbors actually do it?
BAWKtoberfest can’t happen without a small army of volunteers on the day of the tour. By volunteering for one shift, you will receive two passes to take the tour. Volunteers are needed at Learning Garden Check In, to run between stops and at The Learning Garden for check in.
